MHBC is pleased to announce that Vice President David McKay was recently awarded the 2017 University of Toronto Association of Geography Alumni Fenton Chin Outstanding Service Award. This award is presented to individuals who have made outstanding voluntary contributions to the University of Toronto Department of Geography, its programs, its students or its alumni.
This is the second time (previously in 2011 as the UTAGA Outstanding Service Award) he has been presented this honour. On behalf of MHBC, congratulations David.
MHBC is very pleased to announce that Neal DeRuyter and Scott Allen have been promoted as Partners within MHBC.
Neal has been working at MHBC since 2009 after graduating from the University of Waterloo in the Honours Planning Co-op program. Neal has worked as a Planner in the private and public sectors with experience in aggregate resource, development and municipal planning.
Over the past 8 years Neal has earned the trust and confidence of key MHBC clients through his commitment to service and sound advice based on a thorough understanding of planning processes and policy frameworks. Neal has worked hard to get ahead of emerging issues and manage development applications including zoning by-law amendments, official plan amendments, and licence and site plan applications under the Aggregate Resources Act. He is certified by the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forestry to prepare site plans under the Aggregate Resources Act. He has participated and authored several research studies and articles related to aggregate resource management.
The addition of Neal to the partnership at MHBC will ensure that we will continue to be leaders in our field and well positioned to take on and deliver complex projects for our valued clients. Scott joined MHBC in 2012 after working in both the public and private sectors for over 15 years. He brings a combined expertise in both land use planning and environmental assessment work. Since joining the MHBC London office, Scott has demonstrated his strong work ethic and commitment to client service, business development and project management.
Scott will continue to serve existing and new clients with the same commitment and attention to detail in order to ensure successful outcomes for their projects.

Jamie began his career in 2003 with Meridian Planning and became an Associate in 2011. In 2013, Jamie became part of the MHBC team through the merger of Meridian Barrie and MHBC. Jamie is a highly respected professional in the field of land use planning and provides high quality planning services to public and private sector clients.

In addition, MHBC is pleased to announce the promotion of Scott Allen and Greg Johnstone to Associate.
Scott brings over 15 years of experience in land use planning with particular expertise in environmental assessments and regulatory approvals. In addition he has extensive experience in planning analysis and research for residential and commercial development.
Since joining MHBC in 2012, Scott has made a significant contribution to our London officein the areas of client service, business development and project management.
Greg is a landscape architect with over 21 years of experience. He is responsible for master plans, landscape designs, vegetation assessment, tree protection and removals plans, detailed site design, document preparation, illustrative graphics, and field review.
He has experience working on award-winning projects, both public and private, including design for community parks, schools, medical centres, heritate sites, multi-unit residences, and residential landscapes. He has level 2 training with CPTED Ontario and has written reports and landscape audits for sites in Kitchener and Brantford.
MHBC OPENS A BURLINGTON OFFICE AND WELCOMES DANA ANDERSON AS A NEW PARTNER
MHBC is very pleased to announce that Dana Anderson has joined the firm as a Partner and will be at the helm of its new Burlington office.
Dana is a highly respected professional in the field of land use planning. Her career has spanned over 25 years in both the private and public sectors. For the past six years, Dana was the Director of Planning Services for the Town of Oakville. As Director, Dana oversaw the Department’s responsibilities for development applications, heritage planning, urban design and policy planning. She led the preparation of the Town’s new Official Plan and new Zoning By-law as well as various other studies and policy documents.
Prior to joining Oakville, Dana was a Partner in a planning consulting firm and led their Mississauga office. As a planning consultant, Dana gained extensive experience with land development. She led multi-disciplinary teams, conducted community engagement, prepared Official Plan and Zoning By-law amendments, oversaw site plan and subdivision applications and negotiated various development agreements. Dana has also led numerous policy reviews including the preparation of Official Plans, Secondary Plans and Zoning By-laws, commercial and employment studies, growth management studies, and strategic plans.
Dana’s professionalism and work ethic is a tremendous fit with MHBC’s core values. Dana brings to MHBC a high degree of professionalism, exemplary project management and facilitation skills, as well as an in-depth knowledge of the Greater Golden Horseshoe area. Dana’s insight, talent and private and public sector experience will be a tremendous asset to MHBC’s clients and will bolster the firm’s depth. The partners of MHBC are pleased to announce several changes in its leadership, effective September 1, 2014. These changes arise from MHBC's strong focus on succession planning and long term strategic planning.
Brian Zeman, currently Vice President and Director, has been with the firm for 16 years and will become President of MHBC. David McKay first joined MHBC 17 years ago and he will assume the role as Vice President and will become a Director. Brent Clarkson has been named Chair of the Board of Directors.
Paul Britton will continue in his longstanding role as Vice President, Treasurer and Director of MHBC.
In addition, MHBC is pleased to announce that Greg Costa, a landscape architect working in the firm's Woodbridge Office, has been promoted to Associate. Amarjit Sandhu, operating in Kingston, and specializing in aggregate resource planning and approvals, has also been named as an Associate.
