Dana Anderson joined MHBC in 2015. Dana is a graduate of Queen’s University and has a Masters degree in planning from the University of Waterloo. She brings over 25 years of professional experience in the field of urban planning to the firm. Dana is a full member of the Canadian Institute of Planners and a Registered Professional Planner in Ontario. She is a highly respected professional and has held positions in both government and the private sector. She has extensive knowledge, experience and expertise in a wide range of areas. Dana has developed, managed and authored new Official Plans, Secondary Plans, Zoning By-laws and major policy studies and plans for the public sector. As the Chief Planner for the Town of Oakville for over 6 years, she led a department of 30 staff and oversaw all planning functions. Ms. Anderson has also directed and managed staff and sub-consultants on a variety of private sector planning projects throughout Ontario including the redevelopment of several commercial retail centres and health care facilities.
Dana has been an active member of the Ontario Professional Planners Institute (OPPI) and the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) throughout her career. She has presented several lectures and presentations on a wide range of planning topics and has been dedicated to the advancement of the standards for the planning profession. She is the 2018-2019 Planner-in-Residence at the University of Waterloo. She is also a former OPPI Council member, has chaired the membership committee at both the provincial and national level and chaired committees on ethics and planning school accreditation as part of the national standards review.
