MHBC provides land use planning and GIS mapping services to the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Since 2011, MHBC has provided strategic advice to Chief and Council on a number of development issues both on and off the reserve.
MHBC has also prepared an Environmental Protection Plan for the First Nations, which identifies existing environmental features on the reserves and is used as a tool for educating members of the community about the importance of environmental features in protecting the environment and the lifestyles of community members.
MHBC reviewed the existing Land Use By-law for the First Nation and has worked closely with staff in order to guide residential, commercial and industrial uses on the reserve. MHBC has also prepared a Source Water Protection By-law and Sign By-law, which will control development on the reserve.
In addition to planning related services, MHBC provides GIS mapping support to the reserve. MHBC has created a detailed database of information pertaining to certificate of possession, land use, reserve properties, sewage and water information, environmental information and cemetery information.
